Skye SOS-NHS – Public Meeting- Monday  3rd August at  7pm

The letter below is the response from the general office of the First Minister in regard to Fay Thomson’s email of May 2026 regarding services at Portree Hospital .   At the time of writing, there has been no response from the office of the CEO of NHS Highland, other than an email on 13th August to acknowledge receipt of the enquiry.

Coupled with the recent threat of closure of Home Farm Nursing Home, the group feels that questions need to be answered, as a matter of urgency, with regard to the future of health and care services in north Skye. We therefore seek the opinions, suggestions and support  (especially for the staff at both facilities) at a public meeting, to be held on 

Monday  3rd August at  7pm in the Church of Scotland Hall, York  Drive, Portree

We would very much appreciate the sharing of the information of the meeting by recipients of this email amongst your communities, and for anyone unable to attend but wishing to comment/ask questions, these could be emailed to  skyesosnhs@gmail.com,

Saturday 18th July 14:30 – Afternoon Tea

Afternoon Tea at Struan School on Saturday 18th July from 2.30pm-4.30pm. Entry by donation. Raffle. All money raised will go to the Skye Branch of Cancer Research.

Highland Council Engagement Platform

Highland Council has just launched its new on-line engagement portal available at Citizen engagement platform | The Highland Council. This will supplement but not replace other methods of engagement and allows a much more interactive experience with the facility for creation of ideas, using mapping to drop ‘pins’, voting etc. One of the most helpful features is that registered users can select the geographic and/or sectoral areas they are interested in and will then receive notifications when there is new activity under these themes or when there are updates. There is no requirement to register on the site, but more functions are available to those who choose to do so.

At present we just have the one active consultation, but this site will now be the primary on-line site used for all our consultation and engagement. This will include statutory consultations such as school closures, traffic orders etc through to wider studies and more general engagement. 

I would be grateful if you can share this message with your widest networks and encourage as many people as possible to visit the site and register if they wish to do so. The site is available here – https://engage.highland.gov.uk/en-GB/  or just drop engage.highland.gov.uk into your browser.

SSEN Delivery to Glenvickaskill will now be Wednesday 17th

The following has been received from SSEN this evening:

Dear Community

further to the update issued on Friday I would like to inform that the delivery to Glenvicaskill expected on Monday was delayed and is now due tomorrow, Wednesday 17 June 2026.
I have been informed that the escorted delivery will leave the Dalwhinnie area at approximately 10:30am and is expected to arrive at Glenvicaskill mid to late afternoon. The delivery will access the B885 (Struan Hill Road) from the Struan end. 

Please accept our apologies for the change of delivery time. I sincerely hope that this delivery will not impact on your commute along the Hill Road.
