Japanese Knot Weed at the School

The area next to the school that has been fenced off with orange fencing contains Japanese Knot Weed (a particularly invasive and damaging species of alien plant). Scottish Woodlands have been treating the area and are due to do another spraying soon, as well as restore the perimeter fencing that has been disrupted by the recent winds. In the mean time there is evidence of regrowth from previous sprayings so the area and everything in it must be treated as contaminated.

Please do not enter the area or remove anything from it.

Delivery of Welfare Cabins to Edinbane

The following note from SSEN arrived yesterday, please don’t shoot the messenger!

Dear Struan Community Council,

I am writing on Maren’s behalf whilst she is on Annual Leave to inform you of an upcoming delivery of Welfare Cabins to the Edinbane Substation Site as part of our Skye Reinforcement project

The delivery operation for the Welfare setup is due to begin on Wednesday 16 July and there will be intermittent large delivery traffic for 2-3 weeks following this which may cause some disruption to regular traffic, particularly on Balmeanach Road.

We apologise in advance for any inconvenience this may cause however will aim to keep local disruption to a minimum.

We would also be grateful if you could share this with the wider community on the Community Council Facebook page.

Should you require any additional information please do let me know.

We’ve also updated the ‘Project Update’ section of the webpage regarding these works.

Many thanks

Kelly
