Craft Night will be on as usual on Thursday 6th February 2025 from 7 – 9pm, all are welcome.

QR Code: The Scottish Government managed to to get the QR code wrong on the R100 poster sent out earlier this week, hopefully the one below now works correctly. Please do fill in the evaluation, it’s an opportunity for you to express your satisfaction or otherwise with the level of Broadband service we receive in Struan.
For those that do not know, R100 is the Scottish Government programme for rolling out superfast (or better) broadband to 100% of the Scottish population. “Superfast” is 30Mb/s download and 15Mb/s upload (something many of us can only dream of). Struan is certainly a candidate for the programme but has yet to be scheduled into it, and there does not seem to be much prospect of it in the near future. We would encourage you to follow the link in the poster below and complete the survey.
This note is in relation to the access track maintenance RJ McLeod are currently undertaking at Glen Vic Askill.
We have been informed that RJ McLeod will need to blast some stone on location. This work is planned to go ahead this week, on Wednesday 29 January. There will be two short blasts about 10 minutes apart, at around lunch time (exact timing is weather dependant). All the required safety measures will be put in place and a siren will announce each blast.
Members of the public are invited to a webinar on Tuesday 14 January from 7-8:30pm which will outline Highland Council’s proposed Visitor Levy Scheme, currently undergoing public consultation until 31st March 2025 www.highland.gov.uk/vlconsultation
The webinar is open to all interested parties and to register a place, please click here
Struan Xmas Shopping Trip to Inverness – Are you interested?
Fancy a day out? Join us for a day trip to Inverness, leaving Struan Green at 0800 hrs, arriving back at 2000-2100 hrs.
All are welcome, travel is free for all members of the Struan community. Friends of community members are welcome to come, for a small charge, if numbers allow for this.
The bus has space for 33 people, with storage for shopping underneath. We would need at least 20 people signed-up to make the transport viable. Otherwise, we will use the North West Skye minibus, which can carry up to 8 people and their shopping bags, in which case we would need a volunteer driver with D1 on their licence?
Deadline for response – 1st December 2024 please also advise whether you have a D1 license and are willing to drive.

Coffee in the Classroom Saturday November 30th 10:30 – 12:30

Struan Xmas Lights Switch-on
Weather permitting, this will take place on Monday 2nd December at Crofters Bite starting at 6:30pm, see below:
There will be a skip at the re-cycling point from Friday 15th December for use by Struan residents. Please do not leave anything outside the skip and do not fill it above the level of the sides as it will not be taken away. Also please note that there are many items that are not allowed in the skip (see note below). If any of these are found in the skip the community will be charged a substantial fee based on the weight of the whole skip. If this happens there will be no further Community Skips (which would be a shame).
The next craft evening will be at the School on Thursday 14th November 7:00 pm, all are welcome.
Coffee in the Classroom is on Saturday 16th November from 10:30 to 12:30, please come along for tea, coffee, biscuits and a blether. Meg Wilkinson will be supervising and all are welcome.
