SSEN – Skye Reinforcement Fund Consultation

🌟  Have your say – Fund Consultation coming March 2026 – The Skye Reinforcement Local Fund? 🌟

a Skye Reinforcement Local Fund is being created for communities along the Skye Reinforcement Project route including:
🏘️ Skye & Raasay
🏘️ Glenelg & Arnisdale
🏘️ Glengarry
🏘️ Fort Augustus & Glenmoriston

The lifetime value of the Local Fund will be £5,455,000.

SSEN want this fund to be shaped with the communities it’s here to support.
If you live or work in the eligible community council areas — or represent a local organisation — they want to hear from you.

They’ll be asking for your views on:
📍 The area of benefit — where should the funding be available?
🎯 Funding priorities — what matters most to your community?
⏳ Fund structure — how long should the fund run and what should be available each year?

To gather your insights, They’ll be hosting in‑person and online sessions throughout the consultation period.

More on the road works on Struan Road (Hill Road)

Although the road is signed with “Road Ahead Closed” the road is open overnight and at weekends with no restrictions.

During the working week, the team operate between approximately 8am and 5pm, however essential local movements can continue to pass freely throughout the day.

You are encouraged to use an alternative route if possible, so as to reduce disruption to the work and thereby help speed the completion of the work.

Delays of around 10 minutes should be expected for local traffic using Struan Road. This allows operatives to secure the work area and ensure it is safe to pass.

The aim is for two work sites to operate close to one another. When a vehicle arrives, the operative will make the site safe, allow the vehicle through, and then radio ahead to the second team so traffic is not held twice. This should limit delays to a single short wait, rather than multiple hold-ups along the route.

Highland Council Budget Challenge 2026-2029

The Council has launched its budget engagement exercise as part of the 2026-2029 budget setting process and we are seeking involvement from members of the public, including businesses, community groups, parents, and young people.

Feedback from our communities will help councillors understand what matters most to people and inform the decisions they take when setting out spending commitments in March 2026.

People can offer their views in a number of ways.

There is also a specific community group survey for groups to complete.  This is also available attached, to ease discussion at group meetings.

We would please ask you to share this with members of your community for individuals to complete but also encourage you as a group to respond.

Feedback to help shape the budget proposal for 2026/27 will be presented to a meeting of the Highland Council at the beginning of March for discussion and approval by elected members.

The Highland Council budget consultation closes on 5 January.

Thank you for completing the survey.
